The present government believes in the philosophy of Digital Bangladesh which ensures people’s democratic rights, transparency, accountability and good governance through maximum use of information and communications technology with the ultimate goal to improve the daily lifestyle of general people. With this vision Bangladesh is rapidly advancing towards the path of development despite constraints of resources and has now surfaced as a role model of development for developing countries. As an imperative of this vision, National Board of Revenue (NBR) and its field level offices like other government bodies are also going digital in all their regular activities. This is why I am very glad to learn that the Customs, Excise and VAT Commissionerate, Dhaka (West), has opened its own website, which will enable the clientele under its jurisdiction to have easier access to its services. At the same time, it will facilitate people’s right to information. As people can ventilate their opinion about the services they get from this Commissionerate and also can lodge their complaints about any irregularities, harassment or any other thing, it will be easier for the authority to timely address the grievances. It will also promote an environment based on zero tolerance to harassment, corruption, misconduct and irregularity. With these few words I would like to thank and congratulate all officers and staff of the Commissionerate, who had relentless efforts to make it a success.
